MOUNTAIN BIKING
Summers in Park City rule! Besides all the other things you can get into like fly fishing, hiking, golf, and going to afternoon concerts in the park, you have miles and miles of MOUNTAIN BIKING. My life in Park City has afforded me many hours to explore the vast trail system-from the easy "Rail Trail," heading out to Wanship on the old railroad grade-to the climb 'til ya puke "MoFo Hill" and the downhill of the NORBA Championship course. For 8 seasons I have been an instructor/guide for the Mountain Bike School at Deer Valley riding on Schwinn and K2 Mountain Bikes. They didn't make them tough enough for the "phat man" so I got myself an Outland and rode it hard until the picture you see at the bottom ;)
Of course, what this means to you or whoever is riding with me
at the time is that
I know where we are going. This is also important in chosing rides that match
my companions' skills without over or under challenging them too much along the way.
Mountain biking also got me the chance to have my face (or body at least) in a few magazines articles and advertisements as well as doing some bike modeling in a photo session with photographer Hughes Martin. Some of these were stock photos used in the 1997 Bike Utah magazines advertising for Deer Valley (a similar one being the one below for Ski Magazine) and on-mountain brochures for the summer edition. I have copies of each buried away to find for a later update. Keep checking into Phattyweb!

1998 was a monumental year for me--I got hurt pretty bad in a crash training for the NORBA race in late July
