MEESES Wake up, Bubba!

Bubba waking up on the good side of his bed (luckily 4 me!)

And the ducks swim by, almost unnoticed...

An easy "Hanging out by Moose Lake" day

HEY! That light is interrupting my snack!

Mangy munching my neighbor's bush

Taken from literally 6 feet away

What are YOU looking at?
Moose Lake

Mangy scratchin' at his dreadlocks under his neck
Mangy had two nice dreadlocks hanging from his neck,
thus his name, Mangy.
On hot summer days, moose often spend 3-4 hours in the lake just standing in the same spot

Crusing for the safety of the woods

Its Mangy's world and you better know it!
Mangy in my next door neighbors' yard eating dinner on their bushes

Bubba Moose, his female (Natasha Moose), and a younger male (Mangy Moose) all live in the pond across the street from my house.  Yes, across the street.  People are always going down to the pond to take pictures, but the moose avoid the tourists like the plague--often going to the other side of the lake.  The pictures you see here have been collected from a couple hundred photos I have taken of them during the summer of 2002.  Also, of note, is the fact that I was often over there for an hour or longer, watching and waiting, hanging out with them, watching them eat, drink, swim, and generally be moose. The really close up shots were REALLY CLOSE UP and I do not recommend you trying this.  The one where I woke up Bubba was the last one I have taken and he really intimidated me that early in the morning, yet, he did nothing aggressive towards me.  I would hate to think that the moose "knew" me because that would be animating them a bit too much.  However, I had no malicious intent and I feel they did understand that.  They did let me get pretty close, as these photos show.  For the most part, they are not enlarged in anyway, and the best ones were taken from 10-15 feet away.  If you would like a higher resolution shot, please contact me.

TRANQUILITY

The Park City Jazz Festival
August 18, 2002

Al Jarreau headlined the closing evening.  The previous evening's headliner was Acoustic Alchemy, which was held at The Canyons, in the Forum.  The opening night's headliner was Natalie Cole.  Our little Jazz Fest is getting national acclaim.  But I was only interested in Boogying Down to Al Jarreau, one of my lifelong musical heroes.  Look for this page to be over in the music section soon, but for now...

everything is fine, here, in my mind

This was Al going off during "Save Me" the show's opener.  I was on the third row taking this picture.

Of course I met him.  And he even sang to me my favorite song, which he didn't play earlier that night:  "Boogie Down."
